Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the kind of mobile RPG that clearly wanted to be more than a stamina-gated grind, and mostly it succeeds. The story follows a scattered band of survivors after their city falls, and the writing is genuinely a cut above. I found myself reading the dialogue instead of tapping through it, which almost never happens on my phone.
Combat is turn-based with a positioning twist. Where you place characters on the grid matters, and enemies punish you for lazy formations. It's not brutally hard, but there's enough thinking involved that lucky spam won't carry you through the tougher chapters. Building your party's skill loadout is where the game really opens up.
The downside is the usual mobile creep: energy timers and a shop that nudges you a little too often. You can ignore most of it, but it's there. If you can look past that, the core adventure is well worth the time.
